Oban Distillery

In Oban the distillery is located just in the middle of the town, near the harbour. The whole city looks pretty.

We did not want to participate the guided tour, it was the morning of the day we travelled to Islay. There were quite an amount of people waiting for the next tour. We just wanted to taste the whisky. (Again, directly after breakfast...) At first this was a clear no-no. Either tour and tasting or nothing. But then an older, tall, good-looking gentleman appeared and invited us into the neighbor room, which was locked before. We had a nice conversation, he asked us about our preferred whiskies, and explained in great detail and enthusiasm that the Oban is not only geographically between Speyside and Islay, but also from its character, nose and taste. While all this talking we tasted the really good Oban, this was a fine start of a long day.
