Hi, I am from Carinthia ("Kärnten"),
the most southern federal country
of Austria (Europe). It is a beautiful landscape with many lakes, high mountains and old
castles...
For working I am living here in Linz, the capital town of Upper Austria ("Oberösterreich").

My most favorite hobby is to try recipes from all over the world. I am very interested in authentical recipes. I am getting them by asking my Japanese, African, American,... friends and by reading cookbooks. At present I am owning 467 (!) cookbooks. My herbs and spices collection is constantly growing. Recently I cooked a Cajun dish (Seafood Jambalaya - my family was delighted!). |
As a young girl I always dreamt of owning a model train. But my parents and nearly all other relatives thought that girls should not play with model trains but with dolls and the like. Only my favorite aunt understood my wish and some day she made me a present of a green model truck. Although it was not a model train I was very happy. Later on one of my school-friends invited me once a year when he was allowed to assemble his model train in his room. I enjoyed it very much. As a married woman one day my father-in-law gave me and my husband his Z-scale model train as a gift. As you can see sometimes old dreams come true... |
Imagine you are standing in a very old house. The walls consist partly of stones and loam
and partly of old red bricks. The ceiling between the second floor and the loft is nearly
gone. The roof is connected with the roof of the neighbour's house and nearly its whole
weight lies on one fragile brick pillar erected in one edge of the loft. Most of the windows
are broken. Some years later I am now sitting here in the loft of the above mentioned house in front of our Power Mac and writing these WWW-pages. In the meantime I am an expert in constructing and building wooden floors and walls and treating the pure wood with biological media only based on vegetable oil and beeswax. Here you will find some photos of the reconstructing story. Here you will find some photos of the house nowadays.

One of the most important reason to buy the old house was the beautiful old garden around it. The first we did after clearing away all the filth in and around the house (a terrible work, I can tell you!) was to lay out a small garden pond. I spent hours sitting beside it and watching all the little animals living in it. And some day the frog you see above and a toad came to our pond. They stayed one summer. I enjoyed watching them very much. I also lernt much about life in water and how to keep it running healthy. |
At the picture above you can see my mother and her cat -
very beautiful and (for mice) dangerous. Being a young girl I sometimes had a cat of my own.
One of them named "Tiger" knew my school-time-table by heart. Every day he awaited
me at the same place, accompanied me home, ate lunch with me and slept at my feet during doing
my homework. Unfortunately he also was a great "fighter". One day he came home with
a bad leg. Even the veterinary could nothing do for him any more but free him from his pain. After having finished the renovation of our old house some cats of the neighbourhood began to visit us. We played with them and fed them with milk. One day one of these neighbours asked us if we would take their cat because they got a new flat where they were not allowed to have a cat. We agreed and since then Tina lived in our house. In March 1998 she bore four little baby cats. Follow this link, if you want to see some photos of them. the cats living with us now.
